The X Factor has been faced with rumours of being axed for absolutely bloomin’ ages, but this time around it’s actual Simon Cowell who is stirring the pot of speculation after admitting that this series of the show is “make or break”.
Ooer, is it just us or did things suddenly take a turn for the serious?
The music mogul, who has seriously shaken up the show’s format this year, has blamed the lack of good winners over recent years for the talent competition’s declining popularity – but he is desperate to get it back to its glory days.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Simon shared: “It does feel like make or break this year but I feel like every year is make or break, to be honest.
“There were certain years when certain people won and it was like ‘Oh Christ’.
“Last year’s show made me realise there’s still a lot of talent to be discovered. You never forget those days when you feel a star is being born.”
*Cough* One Direction *cough*.
It still hasn’t even hit our screens yet but this series of X Factor has been hitting the headlines more than ever following Simon’s drastic changes to the format – which included sacking Mel B, Dermot O’Leary, and Louis Walsh and bringing in hot young thangs like Caroline Flack, Nick Grimshaw, Olly Murs, and Rita Ora.
On top of the changes to the line-up, Si has also re-jigged the audition process and cut the amount of live shows that they are, promising for this year to be the freshest and most exciting yet.
