Before you ask, it wasn’t for services to leg exposure.
Angelina Jolie has only gone and been made a DAME by our very own Queen Elizabeth II.
More importantly, who knew that Queen Lizzie was such a Tomb Raider fan?
The ‘Maleficent’ actress is being recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for ‘exceptional service to Britain overseas’, and comes in the wake of her recent appearances in London at the ‘End Sexual Violence In Conflict’ summit.
The star has been working closely with the Foreign Secretary, William Hague (you know, the bald guy?), over the past year – touring the world and raising awareness about sexual violence in warzones.
Pretty admirable work if we say so ourselves.
But although we think ‘Dame Angelina’ has quite a nice ring to it, the 39-year old won’t be able to officially use her new title because she’s not British – so technically it’s an honorary Damehood.
Oh well, she can still parade around the house in a tiara we suppose?
Needless to say, Ange seems pretty pleased with her latest ‘accolade’. The UN Special Envoy (seriously, this woman IS incredible) said that, “To receive an honour related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to”.
Well, we only have one thing left to say, and that is:
ARISE DAME ANGIE.
