He says don’t be fooled by the smiles in the pictures.
A very angry Dad was left fuming after his teenage daughter had a beyond rubbish meet and greet with Ariana Grande. In fact, the whole thing sounds pretty soul destroying.
In the blog post, he says how his daughter met Ariana back in 2011 and they had an absolutely swell time and she was super sweet and everything you want when you stalk your hero.
To summarise: “It was a wonderful experience, and Jen has told the world about it for years.”
However, cut forward to 2014 and it was another story according to Angry Dad.
His daughter, being the ardent fan she is *ahem* was, won a competition to ‘hang with’ Ariana ahead of her performance at the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles.
To win, she had to prove her love for the popstar and painted her a picture which she took with her to present to her at the meet and greet.
Arriving early, they were not permitted inside the building or the car park and were told they would have to essentially hang around outside until they could go in to meet Ariana.
Once inside they were apparently told by an MTV crew to PRETEND they had meet Ariana and basically told word-for-word what to say.
Much to the disgust of Angry Dad.
Finally, they met Ariana, who was surrounded by ‘8-10 assistants’ for a maximum of 15 seconds being told beforehand:
“You are not to present Ariana with any type of gift or anything. Give them to security and they will get them to her. You can take a selfie with her, but nothing else.”
In the words of Angry Dad: “These are not kids who interrupted Ariana during dinner at a restaurant, they are pre-screened contest winners who poured their hearts into their winning entries.”
The 15 seconds sounds equally as awful:
“’No small talk. No banter. No ‘I can pretend I care a slight bit for you because you support me, you tweeted about me and my projects thousands of times, you buy my music, and you traveled so far, while paying for your own taxis, three days of meals, new outfits to meet me in, and federal and state taxes on this prize. Let me hear the one sentence you’ve always dreamed about telling me.’”
“’She never bothered to even ask anyone their name. She didn’t inquire as to who the contest winners were, as opposed to their guests, or what they created to win the right to meet her.’”
Angry Dad says the popstar also ordered her security to make sure any unauthorized photos were also deleted.
However, Ariana has since explained herself saying that one of the fans handed her a photo of her Grandad who recently died and THAT is why she was so ‘off’.
“A fan gave me a photo of me & my grandpa. I walked away because I didn’t want them to see me start to cry.”
“I am still in mourning and I wrote a letter to have sent to her afterward but MTV told me they had already left. My heart is still healing and it’s moments like that that make it real again that he’s gone… wasn’t expecting it and [it] hit me like a ton of bricks,” she added.
Angry Dad is yet to comment on her claims.
