Ariana Grande’s Sexism Essay Is Totally On-Point: ‘I Do Not Belong To Anyone’

We might have to rename Ariana Grande ‘Ari the Sexism Slayer’ after she shared her fab feminism mini-essay on social media, arguing that she’s no-one’s possession or property, yeah?

After shutting down rumours that she’s dating One Direction‘s Niall Horan and clarifying that boys and girls can be friends without hooking up with each other (shocking, we know), Grande Latte took to her Twitter and MazSight to slam the sexism that’s still present in society.

And of course, she totally nailed it. YAAAS, ARIANA.

In the rant, the 21-year-old urged people to stop defining her by her relationships and stop linking her to every guy she stands within five metres of, writing: “I am tired of living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present or future PROPERTY/POSSESSION.

“I… do not. belong. to anyone. but myself. and neither do you.”

“I can’t wait to live in a world where people are not valued by who they’re dating / married to / attached to / having sex with (or not) / seen with… but by their value as an individual.”

Here’s the whole, awesome rant to read if you want to feel empowered. Which you should, because everyone rules.

PREACH IT, GURL.

Her kick-ass message was met with a tonne of support from the sisterhood, with Taylor Swift, Rita Ora, and her mum all lending their support on Twitter.

#Squad.

Ari had earlier slammed all those pesky rumours that she was doing the romantic fandango with Nialler, telling The Sun on Sunday: “A girl can be friends with something with a d**k and not hop on it.

“We live in a horrendously one-track-minded world. I’m tired of needing to be linked to a guy. I’m not Big Sean’s ex, I’m not Niall’s possible girl.

“I’m Ariana Grande. If that’s not enough, then don’t talk to me! I’m on this feminist rampage at the moment. I’m me. I’m Ariana. Peace out.”

Hell. YES, Ariana. We love you just the way you are, so keep doing you.

Oh, and there’s also this video of her getting uber sassy in a car, which is all sorts of incredible:
