It’s a glittering achievement.
Music festival Bestival has just broken a world Record for having the BIGGEST DISCO BALL EVER MADE on site.
Guinness officials visited the site over the weekend and measured the massive mirrored orb on Sunday afternoon. The ball was found to be 10.33 metres in diameter, smashing the previous record of 9.98 metres.
Festival founder/organiser Rob da Bank seemed confident across the weekend that the record would be set.
He said: “Can you believe it? We’ve only gone and cracked it, we’ve built a beauty and we’re certain this disco ball is a record breaker.”
The monumentally huge ball is in place celebrating this year’s Bestival fancy dress theme of Desert Island Disco, which has seen festival goers dressing up in colourful mash ups of polyester, glitter and tropical wildlife (if you ever wanted to see a toucan with an afro this weekend was your best bet).
The disco ball isn’t just for show either. It can be hoisted up by a crane for a proper spinning spectacle, which we’re hoping to see put to use during tonight’s headline set from Chic with Nile Rodgers.
The four day festival has seen performances from Outkast, Beck, Foals, Sam Smith and many more across the weekend.
