Ofcom has received over 1,100 complaints about Helen Wood’s controversial comments toward Brian Belo during Wednesday’s episode of Big Brother.
The two clashed during a game of ‘Most Likely’ when Brian chose Helen as the most likely to marry for money.
Things took an ugly turn when Helen objected, culminating in her telling him: “Brian you look like a rapist, you look like a murderer-slash-rapist.”
The argument led to Brian’s exit from the house – scaling the garden wall.
Ofcom has now confirmed that it will assess the complaints before deciding whether to launch a full investigation.
Channel 5 said in a statement: “Big Brother takes rule-breaking very seriously. Helen and Marc (O’Neill) were both warned regarding their behaviour and as with all housemates they continue to be closely monitored at all times.”
Speaking about the argument to BANG Showbiz, Brian said: “The first thing that went through my head was, ‘How are my friends and family going to feel,’ more than anything because of a comment like that.
“That’s deep, that goes beyond the TV show, and I don’t want something like that out there. You don’t know where you’re going to be in ten, fifteen, years time and I just hope no one thinks there’s anything real attached to that.
“My mum has been deeply upset by it. It’s really hurt my family.”
