Bruce Jenner has officially come out as transgender, stating: “Yes, for all intents and purposes – I am a woman”.
The star of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ sat down with Diane Sawyer on US network ABC yesterday night for the much-anticipated tell-all interview – discussing his journey towards transitioning, his family‘s reaction and what the future holds.
To be honest, it was all very emotional and heart-warming and we’d like to give Bruce a big old hug right about now.
Bruce’s family, who were watching the interview alongside him, tweeted their support, including ex-wife Kris who said “Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.”

Step-daughter Kim also came out in support of Bruce, posting this tear-jerker of a tweet: “Love is the courage to live the truest, best version of yourself. Bruce is love. I love you Bruce. #ProudDaughter”
Daughter Kylie admitted that the process had been hard on her, but was still 100% behind her Dad, echoing the words of her mum Kris by calling Bruce a ‘hero’, tweeting: Understandingly, this has been very hard for me. You will hear what I have to say when I’m ready to but..this isn’t about me. I’m so proud of you, Dad. You are so brave. My beautiful Hero.”
WE ARE NOT CRYING OK.
After stating that he’d felt like a girl growing up, the former Olympian also revealed that by hiding his true identity he had ended up contemplating suicide, too:
“I thought wouldn’t the easiest thing right now … just go in the room, get a gun, boom. Pain’s over, it’s done, go to a better place, but then I thought I wanted to see how the story ends”
Declaring that he hoped his interview could do ‘some good’ for the transgender community, he also urged those watching at home to be ‘open minded’ about his situation, saying, “Please be open minded. Have an open mind and an open heart. I’m not this bad person, I’m just doing what I have to do. I’m saying goodbye to people’s perceptions of me and who I am but I’m not saying goodbye to me.”
Couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Brucey.
During the interview, Jenner stated that he currently considered himself ‘asexual’ when asked if he was gay or lesbian, revealing that his sex life with Kris had been ‘pretty good’, but that he now felt, “… me, I’m a person. I’m not stuck in anybody’s body. Bruce Jenner has always been confused with my gender identity.”

He also admitted that step-daughter Kim had caught him wearing women’s clothes before he came out, which ended up resulting in a bit of friction between the two:
“Kim walked in on me wearing womens’ clothes, she just went for a drive. Then we didn’t speak about it for ages. Kim said she didn’t think she could talk about it.”
But whaddya know – it was none other than Kanye West himself who urged Kim to accept this part of Bruce’s life, and that what he had been doing was absolutely fine.
The Kardashian’s very own Dr.Phil, eh?!
Bruce said: “They were talking about it. He said to Kim, ‘I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, I am, I could have the most beautiful daughter in the world and I do, but I’m nothing if I can’t be me, if I can’t be true to myself.’
“From Kanye, yes, since then Kimberley has been by far the most accepting.”
Bruce said that he hadn’t yet decided if he’d be having gender reassignment surgery, but seems pretty upbeat about what the future holds, especially given how much support he’s received from his friends & family – as well as complete strangers:
“If this is the only problem I have in life, I’ve got it made, if it’s only this then I’m okay. I’ve got my health, my family and seven grandchildren. I hope I’m going to be okay, 2015 is going to be quite a ride.”
Congratulations Brucey – we’re super proud of you babes <3
