After we woke up to the surprising and exciting news that Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden had tied the knot yesterday, more details on their whirlwind Wedding have emerged and are making us more jealous than ever!
A behind-the-scenes look at the couple’s nuptials not only reveals details of Cam’s emotional toast, but also reveals a couple of accidental mishaps that happened during the big day.
Thankfully nothing serious, of course. PHEW.
Sadly, we’ve still not got much detail on the kind of dress Cameron, 42, wore, except for the fact that it was sparkly with a low-cut back, so we’ll just have to imagine that for now.
MailOnline has revealed details of the actress’ cute toast to her new husband, 35-year-old Benji, with Cameron reportedly telling guests: “I waited because I didn’t want to settle.
“Now I got the best man ever. My special man. He’s mine.”
Benji also got some airtime for himself, earning laughs by simply saying: “I only asked to be in control of two things: The music and the cake.”
The former Good Charlotte member apparently let his writing do the talk though, with a source telling The Mirror that he actually sent Cameron a romantic mini-love letter whilst she was getting her make-up done before the ceremony.
The day was said to pretty much go exactly to plan, except for Cameron’s moment of panic when the lighting gave up the ghost for 10 seconds before her big entrance. Oops.
According to MailOnline, Cam was heard saying: “S***, f***, this is f***ed up. You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me!,” before managing to walk down the aisle to Nat King Cole’s Stardust when disaster was averted five minutes later.
Thank goodness for that!
Her bridesmaids followed the gorgeous actress down wearing black and carrying white flowers.
Sparrow, Nicole Richie’s son who was ring bearer on the day, also had a teeny tiny slip up when he accidentally dropped the ring, although thankfully the crowd found the funny side!
An insider told MailOnline: “He dropped the ring and it rolled around. The audience began to chuckle. But as both brothers – groom Benji and best man Joel – got on their hands and knees looking for it, the guests broke out into full laughter.”
Things went smoother for the tent-based reception though, with the couple joining guests after spending 30 minutes of private time together as part of the Jewish wedding ritual Yichud.
Cameron opted for a change of outfit for the evening do, changing into a short-sleeved, full length embellished white dress for the ceremonial cake-cutting and some typical wedding dancing.
No news on whether guests were treated to wedding tune classics like the Macarena and Oops Upside Your Head, but considering they’d been treated to performances by Lionel Richie and Ryan Adams, we think they may have escaped the cheesy tunes!
All-in-all, an insider described the day as “a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony,” and what more could you ask for?
Congratulations once again, Cameron and Benji!
