It’s been speculated for weeks that the two would be taking over the reigns of the show, and now Caroline Flack and Olly Murs have finally been confirmed as the official hosts of this year’s X Factor.
Previous host of eight years, Dermot O’Leary, was the first of many celebrities to congratulate the two – sharing some words of wisdom with the two about how to handle their new role.
Show boss Simon Cowell confirmed the news in a statement, citing his ‘delight’ that the former Xtra Factor duo were returning to the fold.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted Caroline and Olly are both returning to The X Factor. When they were on Xtra together, they were a brilliant double act.
“Since then, Caroline’s gone from strength to strength – and Olly has become one of Britain’s biggest stars. So now I’m looking forward to them fronting the main show.”
Speaking of his return to the show that gave him his career, Olly said: “I love the show and it kick-started my career in music which has given me the opportunity to do what I love.
“I already have the best job in the world and it’s about to get better – I can’t wait to get started and be part of finding some amazing new talent.”
Caroline, who won rival show Strictly last year, praised Dermot for the legacy he has left behind and vowed to do him proud.
“I’m also incredibly lucky to have the best tips and support from my showbiz big brother Dermot,” she said. “I’m not sure how I can live up to his long-term residency but I know I can’t let him down.”
We can’t wait to see Olly and Caroline back on our screens!
