Peter Dixon (shouty voiceover man himself revealed the news on the Capital Breaskfast Show this morning.
Speaking to Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon, he said:
“I had a phone call a few weeks ago from the producers to tell me who the new judges were. They said, ‘It’s Cheryl’, and I said, ‘Oh that’s fine, she’s back’, and they said, ‘No but she’s changed her name, she’s married Jean-Bernard and she wants to be know by his second name, so can you start practising?’ So I have been… not very successfully!”
OK, so it’s decidedly weird but nothing we won’t get used to, we are sure.
Chezza started off life a Tweedy before changing her surname to Cole after marrying footballer Ashley Cole in 2004.
Even after they divorced in 2010 she kept the surname and even has a tattoo reading ‘Mrs C’ on the back of her neck.
However, as of July 7 she has been Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and that is the way it will be from here on in. We wonder if you have to say it with a French accent?
Cheryl married John-Bernard a couple of weeks ago in a top secret ceremony on the tropical island of Mustique in front of just four witnesses including her Mum and PA Lily England.
