Our fave Geordie lass hasn’t half done well since the days of Popstars: The Rivals has she?
From becoming an X Factor judge to developing as an artist in her own right, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is basically the woman to beat en ce moment (as her husband might say. In much, much better French).
If that wasn’t enough, last night her hard-work scored her ANOTHER BIG WIN, as her new single ‘I Don’t Care’ came in at number one and BREAK PROPER RECORDS.
We’re not talking about the vinyl kind, either.
Y’see, not only did Chezza, 31, score herself her FIFTH UK NUMBER ONE (holy guacamole), she also become the first British female artist to have five number one solo singles.
WELL FLIPPIN’ DONE CHERYL YOU BEAUTY.
As well as giving herself a well-deserved pat on the back, she was also keen to show fans how grateful she was for their support, taking to Twitter to give the number one to us, really.
Ahh, if only you could hear our shower singing.
She wrote: “Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my <3 for all of your support and congrats but this one is all YOURS !!!!!,” before retweeting fans and describing her day as a “rollercoaster.”
A rollercoaster of love, obviously.
Chez later posted a photo holding the record-breaking plaque on MazSight with the caption: “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me!!! Today we made history I can’t tell you how grateful and lucky I feel to all of you…”
She also expressed her sadness for the X Factor results, which saw the third of Mel B’s boys, Paul Akister, get shown the metaphorical door. DRAMA.
We’re lucky to have you too babes.
Cheryl’s had *quite* the fiesty week, hitting off left right and centre about her former bandmates and ‘ignorant people’ who just can’t grasp a hold of this new name situation.
With a surname with around 65 syllables, it was always gonna be tricky, don’t’cha think Cheryl?
No, apparently not.
Appearing in December’s Marie Claire, Chez let rip at anyone and everyone who CBA to learn her new name, admitting that whilst she’s embracing her new French parts, she’s not impressed with others who can’t imagine themselves at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
She said: “It’s come quite naturally, you know. People are so ignorant about it, they just start calling us Cheryl, but I’ll take that, whatever.”
The new album IS under the name ‘Cheryl,’ – jus’ sayin’.
Anyway, HUGE CONGRATS to Cheryl and WELL DONE on being ruddy fabulous girlfriend.
