As sure as the sun will rise and set each day, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Louis Walsh are feuding once again.
Following Louis’ ill judged decision to label The Chez-Fez-Vez as ‘lazy and insignificant’ this week, the Geordie judge hit back with a succession of angry tweets which claimed he had no idea what he was doing while on the X Factor judging panel. Yikes.
But this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this pair’s frosty past…
2003 – Girls Aloud sack Louis
After successfully being voted into Girls Aloud on Popstars: The Rivals, Cheryl and her band mates decide to part ways with manager Louis not after just a year of working with him.
Louis later goes on to admit that he wasn’t comfortable managing a group of young women, saying: ““I never worked with them very well ‘cos they kind of scared me, the five girls together. Five girls is a bit scary.
“Generally, girls don’t like each other. That’s the problem. I couldn’t help them with their hair, makeup, all those things.”
2008 – Cheryl & Louis reunite as she joins The X Factor
Things remain relatively amicable between the two as Chez admits that working with Louis again is a tad awkward. However, the two decide to put their troubles behind them for the sake of the show.
2010 – Cracks start to appear
Cheryl is asked about what she thinks of working with Louis for a third year, with the star responding: “I love Louis but if I’m honest, sometimes he does my head in. But I think that’s like any relationship.”
2012 – Cheryl lifts the lid on Louis’ management style
Two years after leaving the X Factor panel, Cheryl is interviewed by Marie Claire where she reveals what she really thought of Louis during his brief stint as Girls Aloud’s manager.
“Louis claimed to be our manager, but he never did it,” she revealed. “We didn’t talk to him or anything like that. He just took a cheque.
“Louis had zero involvement… We managed ourselves. He never chose a hit. Who chose them? Us.”
Louis hits back….hard
Unsurprisingly, Louis isn’t best pleased about being called scrounger, retaliating with some rather scathing words about the singer, heralding their friendship as ‘over’.
He raged: “I won’t stand for anyone criticising me professionally and if I was in London right now I’d give her a piece of my mind.
“What is she peddling this time? Eyelashes or hairspray? It’s definitely not her music!
“At least I am still on The X Factor and happy to be there. I’m a much better manager than she is a singer. Cheryl is a great clothes horse. Nice girl, but likes to get her own way. I’ve got two words to say: vocal lessons.”
But then he buries the hatchet
Cheryl reveals via Twitter that Louis has text her to apologise for his harsh words, with the singer accepting his apology. She posted: “Spoke to Mr. Walsh.. And he asked me to post his text as he does NOT have twitter..
“Hello Cheryl !! Princess of pop and biggest hair in the land!!!! Let’s call a truce to all this stuff in the press and things that happened ten years ago !! We always had fun on the x factor and I always defended u against the wicked cowell !!
“We used to have great fun and life is too short u and I always said !! I’m looking forward to your new music and think u shud come on the xfsctor live show to perform !!!!
“Keep smiling and send me some new product !!!! Louis Walsh still on x factor !!! See u soon hello to lily and blue !! P.S are they really your eyelashes!! LOL xxxxx”
2013 – Louis sticks the knife in with Nicole Scherzinger dig
In her autobiography, Cheryl made no secret about her dislike of the former Pussycat Dolls front woman. So when Nicole joined the X Factor as a judge, Louis couldn’t help but make an indirect jibe about Chez. He gushed: “I think Nicole’s been the best female – by a mile! [She's] The hardest-working, most professional, everything. She knows music, dance, make-up and hair and all that. I think she’s brilliant.”
2014 – Cheryl returns to a ‘frosty’ atmosphere
During an interview on with Graham Norton, newly reinstated Cheryl admits that her return to the X Factor wasn’t well received by all. “It’s a little bit frosty,” she said. When asked with whom, she replied: “Louis.”After being asked if things were still off with her and her former manager, she joked: “They were never on!”
Cheryl brands Louis ‘sick’ over accusations she faked having malaria
Speaking about her battle with the life threatening disease, Cheryl addresses the crass rumours that she had made the whole ordeal up.
She raged: “I think it was Louis Walsh [who implied it wasn't true]. It’s sick. And it made me question humanity. I really lost faith in humanity for a long time.
“Not that I care anymore but at the time I was devastated. Sometimes, even now, I hear things about me and think, the person who is writing this, or saying it, you have to be sick in your f***ing head to even conclude that about me. Louis has apologised profusely since.”
2015 – Louis deems Cheryl ‘lazy and irrelevant’
After his reported sacking from the X Factor, Louis decides to go after surviving judge Cheryl. And he doesn’t mince his words.
He tells Heat: “Cheryl wasn’t great last year. She’s sometimes lazy and lacks energy.
“She needs to give more, she can give so much more. She’s irrelevant these days.”
And unsurprisingly, she isn’t impressed
After reading what Louis has to say about her, Cheryl takes to Twitter to tell the world exactly how she felt about Louis – which wasn’t an awful lot.
Will these guys ever get on? Probably not. But it’s all very entertaining to watch.
Looking forward to round #762 already…
