Little has divided public opinion as much as Caitlyn Jenner’s gorgeous transformation, as debuted on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine last month.
Whilst the majority of the responses to Caitlyn’s inspirational bravery has been overwhelmingly positive and supportive, some have taken to their social media accounts to share their not-so-positive views, which left a lot of us feeling a little bit bleurgh about the world.
Thankfully, the people over at SheKnows decided to restore our faith in humanity and have us all feeling the warmest, fuzziest, and loveliest of feels when they decided to get children’s reactions to Caitlyn.
The kids were first of all shown a photo of Caitlyn before her transition, competing in the Olympics. Their initial response to the pic included comments on the gold-medallist’s strength and athletic physique.
When they were shown snaps from the 65 year old’s Vanity Fair shoot, the children described her as looking “confident”, “happy”, and “like she knows what she is doing”.
Although initially confused when they were told that the people in the pics were the same person, the kids were immediately supportive of Caitlyn, with one giving the particularly heartwarming response of: “Who she wants to be is who she should be”, before describing the positive social media reactions as “empathetic”.
Another fave response of ours: “What if this were happening to me? What if I were the one who were going through this?”
When shown the somewhat more negative tweets, their comebacks were equally heartwarming, including: “The people who are saying that are afraid to change themselves” and “It’s important to be yourself because if you’re not yourself then who are you?”
Equally poignant, we think you’ll all agree.
All in all, the video shows that the world isn’t such a bad place after all – and the next generation are shaping up to be pretty bloomin’ wonderful.
