It’s bad news for TOWIE‘s Dan Osborne, as after being suspended from the show last month following domestic abuse allegations, he’s now been completely axed.
Yep, wave goodbye to cute shots of baby Ella and say hasta la vista to Dan’s topless bod being on your TV screens, because ITV bosses have confirmed that he will not being returning to ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex following *that* leaked audio footage, which involved ex-girlfriend Megan Tomlin.
A spokeswoman told Mirror Celeb: “Dan was suspended during the last series of Towie, and Lime Pictures and ITV have since decided he will not be returning to the show. We wish him luck in the future.”
The 23-year-old and father of two first joined the show during series eight.
It’s been a tough few months for Dan, after he first found himself in the centre of domestic abuse allegations involving Megan in February.
Then in March, audio footage was leaked, in which he allegedly threatened to stab Megan AND denied a relationship with Jacqueline Jossa, who was pregnant with Ella at the time.
In the clip, you can seemingly hear Dan go on a vile, foul-mouthed rant, branding Megan “dirty” and telling her to “go f**k yourself”.
He later issued an apology for the rant, saying: “It has taken me a while to find the right words but I would like to say that I am truly sorry to anyone who was offended by what they heard.
“I am unable to talk about the difficulties with my current family situation but I am taking steps to resolve it to achieve the best outcome for my son. I am ashamed and embarrassed that I allowed myself to reach such a dark place that I behaved in a way that even I didn’t recognise.
“While I acknowledge that there is absolutely no excuse for my deeply regrettable behaviour, I plead for some understanding that I had no intention of violence.”
“There are always two sides to every story and all of my friends and family who are close to me know that I’m not a violent person capable of anything like this. My words were said in anger and desperation at a very difficult time.
“I love my son Teddy very much and I’m doing all that I can to see him as often as possible.
“I’m also very sorry to everyone at TOWIE that I have let down and thank them for their understanding and support while I take a short break to concentrate on my family.”
Jacqueline later spoke out to defend Dan, taking to Twitter to assure fans he’s never been violent towards her.
The 22-year-old wrote: “I can assure you I wouldn’t stand by a man capable of everything Dan has been made out to be, he is my best friend, boyfriend and he is a brilliant father.
“Above all else, I just want to clear up, he has never once been violent or even shown signs towards me at all.
“People selling stories on him show one side to a story, but people around Dan know the whole truth and you would all be shocked.
“I am 100 percent not saying what Daniel has said was right or okay, but people make mistakes when in dark places and it’s something that we sorted out privately, not in front of the whole world.
“It’s something he has apologised for and is embarrassed about.”
