We suppose it must be quite nice to be Nick Grimshaw, you know. Having the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 all fighting over you – it’s like a media bubble version of Take Me Out.
But it’s potentially a little bit awks now between Grimmy, new boss Simon Cowell and TFI Friday and BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans, who appeared to hint that Simon only went and poached Nick for the X Factor before Chris could offer him his show.
Ain’t it nice to be in demand, eh?
Speaking to those cheeky scamps at The Sun, Chris confirmed that he had no idea Grimmo had a contract drawn up already with ITV:
“Unfortunately he has another contract I found out about in The Sun newspaper. He’s exclusive with ITV, so it’s very disappointing.”
“He will always be welcome on the show, though. I will be presenting the next eight shows and I’m very excited about it.”
Aww, poor Chris. Hugs for you and your little beard.
Chris and Nick were both at Glastonbury this weekend, where the former was busy scouting out some trendy young talented types to play on his show.
He said: “I will be trying to get some new music. Some of the music will be brand new.”
“It’s hard to do music on TV so somebody brand new has got as much chance of holding the audience as somebody that you know and love performing.”
“I found a girl who is 16 or 17 and she is a cross between Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Lily Allen. Her stuff is completely formed and ready to go.”
Sounds promising mate, just make sure she’s not got any sneaky ITV contracts lurking about the place.
Probably a good idea to keep her away from The Cowell, innit?
