The revelations made in the documentary “Surviving R. Kelly” led to fresh problems for the disgraced singer, with the latest being an announcement from Lady Gaga. The “Till It Happens To You” singer announced on her Twitter account late Wednesday she would take down the song “Do What U Want (With My Body)” — which she recorded with disgraced singer R. Kelly — from iTunes and other music streaming platforms.
Gaga apologized to her fans for her collaboration with Kelly and promised to remove the song whose lyrics are of a provocative nature. She also said she would “not be working with him again.”
The song was released Oct. 21, 2013, and was directed toward Gaga’s haters. The lyrics of the song attracted listeners’ attention as Gaga sang about how no one could take charge of her soul and mind, even though they could do anything with her body. Along with Kelly, she performed the song on many occasions, including on Saturday Night Live and at American Music Awards.
She had been previously criticized for working with Kelly and keeping silent on the accusations surrounding him, but her Wednesday tweet brought her many applauds over social media. Several people thanked her for taking this step.
There were also many people who asked Gaga to keep the version of “Do What U Want (With My Body)” that she recorded with Christina Aguilera.
Meanwhile, a criminal investigation was launched in georgia against Kelly following the release of the docuseries.
