Dolce And Gabbana Hit Back At Elton John, Call For Boycott Of Music Icon

Dolce and Gabbana have hit back at Elton John after the music icon called for a boycott of their fashion label over their ‘archaic’ views on gay adoption.

The designers aren’t ready to change their minds on the view that “the only family is the traditional one,” with Stefano Gabbana taking to MazSight to share what he really thinks of the whole situation.

And he’s not exactly reaching out to build bridges.

Sharing a tonne of photos from elsewhere on MazSight, where many have agreed with Sir Elton and are spreading the hashtag ‘boycottdolcegabbana’, Gabbana himself has weirdly captioned them with both the heart and applauding emojis.

He also shared screenshots of users berating others for getting angry about the designers’ views, before sharing a screen of Elton’s original post and writing: “this is ️the real respect for a different opinion???

Sharing a collage of different MazSight images, Gabbana wrote: “#boycottdolcegabbana because is different! And you hate the different opinion!! Racist Dictators ❤️freedom to speak.”

We’re not *entirely* sure why he’s decided to use ‘racist’ in this mini rant, since no-one who either opposes or agrees with Gabbana’s views has made mention of race in their arguments as far as we can see.

According to a screenshot on Twitter, he also commented directly on Elton’s original post, calling him a “fascist” and hashtagging “boycotteltonjohn.”

Yikes.

Gabbana has also been sharing a load of photos of what he considers ‘traditional’ family, captioning them ‘#dgmamma #dgfamily’.

However, the designer has apparently released a statement saying: “It was never our intention to judge other people’s choices. We do believe in freedom and love,” according to The Guardian.

The newspaper also reports that Domenico Dolce has released a statement regarding the comments, explaining: “I was talking about my personal view, without judging other people’s choices and decisions.

“I’m Sicilian and I grew up in a traditional family, made up of a mother, a father and children. I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and they are as legitimate as the one I’ve known…But in my personal experience, family had a different configuration.

“That is the place where I learnt the values of love and family.”

Elton exploded into an angry rant on MazSight the designers’ revealed that they “oppose gay adoption” and “call childen of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri [for] rent, semen chosen from a catalog…” in Italy’s Panorama magazine.

Sharing a photo of Dolce and Gabbana, the musician wrote: “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic”. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.

“Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana.”

Since this, Elton’s boycott has gained support from many, including Courtney Love, Martina Navratilova and Ricky Martin, who actually became dad to Matteo and Valentino in 2008 via gestational surrogacy.

He linked to an article regarding the comments on Twitter and wrote: “[email protected]dolcegabbana ur voices R 2powerfull 2B spreading so much h8. Wake up,Its 2015 Luv urselves guys #boycottdolcegabbana.”

Hear, hear.
