She’s finally spoken out.
Drew Barrymore has paid tribute to her half-sister who was tragically found dead in her car on Tuesday morning.
Breaking her silence, the A-lister, 39, released a statement admitting that, although she didn’t know Jessica Barrymore well, she wished her family ‘love and peace’ at this time.
She said: “Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I’m so incredibly sorry for their loss.”
The Wedding Singer star’s sibling – the daughter of Drew’s father John and his third wife Nina Wayne – was reportedly found dead in her car at 6am.
Maria Lopez made the discovery after finding Jessica’s car blocking her driveway and, after trying to wake her, phoned the police.
An onlooker told KGTV ABC10: “Her car was parked right here last night around midnight. I thought she was sleeping or waiting for someone.”
Jessica, who was due to turn 48 on Wednesday, reportedly had pill bottles scattered around her when she was found – although a cause of death is yet to be determined.
Apparently Jessica, who was on a Creative Arts course in San Diego, had visited her mother just the day before.
It seems that Drew wasn’t close to her half-sister as their father divorced Drew’s mother when she was just nine and didn’t play a major role in her life.
The Charlie’s Angels star has been very open about her own struggle with drug addiction, previously admitting that she was addicted to cocaine at just 13-years-old.
Sending our love to the whole family.
