Just in case you were in any doubt about how insanely talented Ed Sheeran is, he’s only gone and covered heavy metal and rap classics from the likes of Limp Bizkit and Ty Dolla $ign during a sketch on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
We probably don’t need to spell it out for you, on account of Eddy always being totally flawless, but the resulting video is better than eating pizza for breakfast and it’s totally made our year.
It’s also made us wonder what life would be like it Eddy did ACTUALLY follow this heavy metal path, and we’ll be honest, it’s strangely enjoyable.
Turning tunes like Limp Bizkit’s ‘Break Stuff’, Iron Maiden’s ‘Run to the Hills’, and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Paranoid’ into songs that we’d quite happily listen to on a cosy winter’s night, sitting under a blanket, chillin’ by the fire while we’re eating fondue, Death Sheeran’s offering actually sounds amazing.
Jimmy Fallon himself described the album as such: “Pop music’s cherub-faced troubadour sings 25 of the darkest, most skull-crushing songs ever written.”
As well as the classic metal tunes, the album also promises covers of hits by lesser-known artists, such as Plagues of Slaughter’s ‘Boiling Worship’, and Goat Skank’s ‘Brainthrob’.
The 24-year-old gave us a sneek peek into what we could expect from his (fake) new musical venture, even managing to make the lyric “both of my b**ches drive Range Rovers” from his additional ‘Ed Sheeran Sings Hardcore Rap’ sound like a lullaby.
Someone get that man a Grammy, because he can literally take ANY song and make it sound like getting a cosy cuddle from a woolly jumper. With a drop of added sexiness.
If someone could also get us a legitimate copy of Ed Sheeran does heavy metal lullabies, that would be brilliant. Thanks.
