Ed Sheeran’s Cousin Reveals School Bullies Helped Ed Become The ‘Incredible Songwriter’ He Is Today

Ed Sheeran might be at the top of our Christmas wishlist for this year (we’re starting early), but his cousin has revealed that Eddy wasn’t always so popular at school.

Whilst we might LOVE his ginger locks, his cousin admitted that school bullies weren’t so kind about the colour of his hair nor the fact that he wore glasses to school.

If we could give Ed a big, squeezy hug right now, we would.

The 24-year-old’s cousin Jethro Sheeran has been talking to The Sun about Ed’s former school bullies, revealing: “At school he wouldn’t go out as he was bullied for having ginger hair and glasses.

“It was sad for us to see. But while I was out with my mates, he was working on his craft, becoming the incredible songwriter he is today.”

It’s so horrible to hear about anyone getting bullied, but it’s great that Ed got something so positive out of something so negative.

Of course, as is the way with celeb-land, #haterz haven’t completely disappeared from Ed’s world (sadly), wih Noel Gallagher recently having a pop and saying he “doesn’t want to live in a world where Ed Sheeran can headline Wembley.”

Even though Ed managed to fend off the comment like a boss, his family didn’t find it quite so easier.

Jethro explained: “His dad was quite upset about that.

“Some of the family say Ed should be more outspoken. He could tell them, ‘I sell way more records than you’.

“But if he acted cocky, people wouldn’t like it. It’s not him to be like that. He’s too nice.”

And when they’re not dealing with nasty comments, his family are “picking up fags and bottles” left by fans camping in their gardens, something with they quite understandably “hate.”

Yikes. That sounds pretty ruddy awful. Clear up after yourselves please, guys. Camping in someone’s back garden doesn’t make it a festival.

Last month, Noel Gallagher hit out at the ginger-haired songwriter, telling the NME: “I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible.

“When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a f**king guitar it seems subversive, but it’s f**king not.”

Taking to Twitter, Ed replied to a tweet containing Noel’s quotes, simply writing: “i can live in it, its really enjoyable [sic].”

Would you like some ice for that burn, Noel?

Happy belated Birthday, Ed, and we’re glad to hear you found a silver lining thanks to those horribly nasty bullies.

That hug offer is valid for a year, too. You know where we are.
