She was flooded with kind messages after announcing that she was pregnant AND quitting her job at Radio One last week, but it seems that Fearne Cotton‘s boss wasn’t too impressed.
Radio One controller Ben Cooper made a rather spiky comment about his former employee’s sex life over the weekend… and husband Jesse Wood is NOT a happy bunny.
When asked by Newsbeat if Fearne’s departure was a ‘headache’, the BBC exec responded: “I can’t stop people having sex.”
We’ll take that as a yes then, shall we?
And while the pregnant star, 33, is yet to respond to the comment (she’s still working out her notice period), her husband admitted that it was all a bit much.
Posting a screengrab of the comment on MazSight, the musician wrote: “Thank you for all the kind words today about our special news, except this one.”
Hmm, do we sense some underlying tension, boys?
The star’s followers were quick to add comments under the post, with one writing: “I cringed listening to that interview, what a creepy, weird comment.”
We can’t help but think that the 38-year-old has taken the remark a *little* out of context, as Ben did offer up his congrats to the couple later in the interview.
He said: “All of us at Radio 1 are delighted for [Fearne and Jesse] and wish them all the best for the future. It’s fantastic news.”
The DJ announced the big news on Friday, revealing that she’d handed her notice in after a whopping ten years at the station and was expecting her second litte’un.
Confirming the news on her official website, Jesse Wood’s wife said the couple, who already have one-year-old son Rex, feel ‘blessed’ to expand their family.
“Jesse and I are very happy to announce we are having another baby. I feel extremely blessed and happy that Rex will be a big brother, and we get to welcome another Wood into the world,” she wrote.
She didn’t specify her reason for leaving her job, except for the fact that she’s ready to start a ‘new chapter’ in her life.
“It has also been a time of big decisions and one I want to share with you now. After much time and careful thought I have decided to leave Radio 1 after ten amazing years,” she wrote.
“I have had the most incredible decade broadcasting on Radio 1, meeting wonderful people, helping break artists and watching live music from the world’s best.
“However it is now time for a new chapter.”
Hmm, we sense that her last few weeks at work might be a *little* tense.
