However, we better get eating some humble pie, because the wonderful Gary has kept his word and has already surprised one unsuspecting superfan on their big day.
The result? It’s pretty wonderful, tbh.
With a little help from Maid of Honour Kirsty Miles, Gazza made all of bride Danielle Jones’ dreams come true when he rocked up to sing A Million Love Songs at her wedding on Good Friday.
The bride, who looked absolutely gorgeous, was totally shocked by his guest appearance, and even managed to get up close and personal with him during his performance.
We don’t blame her, actually. When opportunity knocks and all that.
Danielle, who married Darrel Jones on Friday in Berkshire, and her bridal party had been trying to get the 44-year-old to pop along to her big day using the hashtag ‘#getgarytodanswedding‘.
Despite Gary tweeting to say he couldn’t make it because he was out of the country, he actually secretly tweeted Kirsty to say ‘Let’s do this’.
SNEAKY, but we love it.
The only condition was that Kirsty had to keep the whole thing a secret from Danielle, something which she admits was quite a struggle.
She told GetReading: “It was the hardest thing keeping it from Danielle when she was clearly so gutted by it.”
Danielle added: “”I’m surprised Kirsty managed to keep it hidden from me for so long, she’s usually rubbish with secrets!”
Well bravo for keeping it a secret, Kirsty!
Danielle, who is “still on cloud nine” (understandably) explained exactly what happened during her reception at the Beaumont Estate in Old Windsor, saying that she was just about to put her son to bed when THAT song came on.
She said: “I was a bit annoyed by this, I’d asked the DJ to not play any Take That until I’d put my son to bed.”
However, she then turned around and saw Sir Gary of Barlow stood there actually singing the actual song himself – and obviously, she was more than a little bit shocked!
Describing her reaction, she explained: “I was so overcome with emotion I was having difficulty breathing. I nearly collapsed, I was screaming, I couldn’t believe it!
“After pulling myself together I went over to him, gave him a hug and he carried on with the song.
“We then had loads of photos taken, he spoke to my mum, my husband Darrel and my maid of honour Kirsty.”
Back in January, Gary tweeted: “In 2015 I want to sing at 3 weddings. The only deal is they have to be HUGE fans and all you have to do is stalk me on here.
Well done, Gary, for keeping your word and HUGE congratulations on your special day, Danielle!
We’re not jealous at all…
