Golden Globes 2015: Prince Presents Award, Twitter Responds By Losing Its Mind

It’s no secret that Twitter was ablaze with talk about all things Golden Globes 2015 last night, but what happened when Prince stepped on stage for approximately 60 seconds to present an award?

It blew up, OBVIOUSLY.

Yep, a minute of Prince airtime was all that was needed to send Twitter wild and cause fans across the globes to lose their minds as the legendary musician graced the stage with his presence.

Good work, everyone.

56-year-old Prince made his surprise appearance at the 72nd Golden Globes last night to present Common and John Legend with the award for Best Original Song for their track “Glory” from Selma.

Being the all-round GOD that he is, Prince didn’t just greet the adoring, applauding and slightly hysterical famous audience in a standard black-and-white tux.

Oh no no no.

He kicked things up a notch, putting everyone else who’s ever worn a normal suit to an awards ceremony to shame by strutting out in a shiny, metallic suit, gold shoes, his big afro and a diamond studded cane.

Diamond. Studded. Cane.

A bit like a less-creepy, much more legendary version of Willy Wonka, really.

The internet shamelessly lose its marbles when they saw the musician rock up, with one user writing: “Reason to watch #GoldenGlobes ? #Prince

Another wrote: “”Whoa! Prince just showed up at the Golden Globes… carrying a cane and wearing a metallic suit. Yes sir! @purplerainforever,” whilst Nylon Mag pondered: “Did Prince just hover across the stage? If he evaporated into thin air after giving the award, who would be surprised? No ONE. #GoldenGlobes”

And it wasn’t just the internet struggling to keep its cool in this moment of joy.

Celebrities showed they were normal human beings too, as they were captured being total fangirls the moment Prince showed the stage who was boss.

Channing Tatum wolf-whistled, whilst Allison Janney did this:

Basically us right now.

To be fair, Prince could probably have just poked his head ’round the ceremony’s front door for two secs and we all would’ve lost the plot.

Well done, Prince for breaking the internet with just 60 seconds of your life. Same time next year?
