Holly Willoughby: Having My Third Child Felt Like My First

Ahh, Holly Willoughby. Inspirational woman, class-act TV presenter, gal-pal we’ve been yearning for – and to top it all, apparently she’s ‘Mum of the Year’ now, and all.

But The Willoughbooby has recently opened up about the difficulties she’s faced whilst becoming a parent for the third time – rubbishing all those things your mum used to say like “OH TRUST ME SALLY, IT’S ALL EASIER AFTER YOUR FIRST”.

The ‘This Morning’ presenter spoke to The Mirror ahead of her new stint on sport-based panel show, ‘Play To The Whistle’ with her husband Dan Baldwin.

According to Holls, there’s no such thing as ‘perfect parenthood’ – claiming that new baby Chester was like ‘having my first’.

Ickle Chester had ‘really bad reflux’ (no idea what that is, but it doesn’t sound pretty) – and also had what’s known as a tongue-tie, where the skin is really tight under the tongue, making feeding properly difficult, and a massive nightmare for any mum.

She told the newspaper:  “Honestly, Chester felt like my first. I think the biggest thing I’ve learnt along the way is just to give yourself a break.”

“We’re all so worried about doing everything so perfectly. Actually, all they need is your time and your love. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s true.”

Hear, hear Holly!

Aww – you can see why she won that Mum of the Year gong, can’t ya?

Luckily for Holly, her new gig means that she can escape the kids for a couple of hours and feel a little bit more normal, hanging out in the green room and the make up chair.

Well, showbiz normal anyway.

“You go in and say, ‘Can you just pluck my eyebrows, please?’, and things like that. I leave feeling slightly normal again.”

But it’s not all glamour and eyebrow plucking for the ‘Celebrity Juice’ star – she’s just as tired as any other Mum, and doesn’t have the time to be swanning round to clubs and bars and hob-nob with the rich and famous.

“It’s just not worth it. It’s fun at the time, and then the next day you go, ‘Oh, I can’t do it’, it makes it all so much harder.”

To be honest, that’s how we feel about going on on a Thursday.
