Prince Harry and Prince William received very different treatments from some members of the royal family while they were growing up.
In the Channel 4 documentary “Meghan and Harry: The Baby Years,” royal expert Ingrid Seward detailed an incident involving the late Queen Mother. When Prince William and Prince Harry were still very young, Queen Elizabeth II’s mom used to ask the former to sit beside her.
The Queen Mother’s attentiveness towards Prince William and her desire to always be with him made Prince Harry felt left out. And this didn’t also make Princess Diana happy. The Princess of Wales tried her best to treat her sons equally even though it was common knowledge that Prince William will become King.
Princess Diana also knew that Prince Harry was aware that he was number two, and this made her feel anxious because she didn’t want her youngest son to feel that way.
Richard Kay, a royal commentator, told Daily Mail that Princess Diana ended up treating Prince Harry differently even though she gave him and Prince William equal amounts of love.
During his conversation with the ex-wife of Prince Charles, Princess Diana told Kay that she had treat Prince Harry differently from Prince William because she and Prince Charles worked so hard to not him feel that everyone else in their family was concentrating on the Duke of Cambridge.
Princess Diana also told Kay how she once came to a head with the Queen Mother after having a conversation with Prince Harry.
“Harry had complained that whenever he and William visited their great-grandmother at Clarence House, it was always William she made a fuss over and who sat next to her. “‘It’s not fair,’ Harry told his mother,” Kay said.
But even though everyone focused on Prince William because he is Prince Charles’ heir, Prince Harry couldn’t care less about the fact that he won’t become King. During a recent interview, he said he and the other members of the British clan don’t like the position either.
