hunter Hayes has done a lot of pretty impressive things in his lifetime; he’s been on tour with Taylor Swift, raised a whole load of cash for charity, and has been nominated for a prestigious Grammy award three years running… Still, his parents aren’t actually bothered by it all.
Only a Grammy nom, no biggie.
Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celebrity, the 23-year-old revealed that when he goes back home to Louisiana, family life hasn’t changed all that much – and that’s the way he likes it.
The country star shared: “I spent a lot of time with my whole family over Christmas, I spent a few days down in Louisiana then came back to Nashville to work.
“My family aren’t fazed by the fame, they don’t care that I was nominated for a Grammy – they might mention it once or twice, but we don’t really talk about.
“You’d think it’d help you get one-up on cousins and stuff, but they don’t care.
“It’s great though, it’s a normality and it just brings everything back into perspective.”
Sounds to us like Hunter’s totally chill family is exactly what he needs, but if it were us we’d deffo be dropping it casually into conversation at every meal time.
Despite being super close with the Hayes clan, Hunter also told us that, unfortunately, he doesn’t really see much of his old high school friends anymore.
Speaking about how drastically his life changed when he hit the big time, the singer told us: “I don’t have any old school friends and I feel really weird saying that.
“A lot of us were creative and had a big dream of some kind, and I feel like as soon as we finished school we all just chased.
“I also finished school a bit early, so that goodbye process was cut short for me, and it was overshadowed by my desire to get to Nashville and do what I want to do.
“I didn’t really think that I would lsoe touch – I keep up with a few of them and know what they are up to, but everyone just went their seperate ways and the cool thing is we all chased a dream.”
We don’t know about you, but we can practically hear Hollywood calling for that dream-chasing high school to be turned into a musical.
Hunter’s chase for his dream has well and truly paid off, with the blonde-haired star attracting a whole load of amazing fans, and talking about the Hayniacs, Hunter shared: “The coolest thng is that they all know I collect vinyl now, so they’ve been showing up to gigs with vinyl.
“There have been times that I have been on the search for specific records, and they have found them and brought them to a gig for me and I think that’s amazing.
“I find it magical in a way, it’s an obsession of mine and now a load of them are starting a collection too – it’s really cool.”
Pfft, who needs old school friends clogging up your Facebook newsfeed with photos of their kids when you can have hoards of fans as loyal and dedicated as Hunter’s, eh?
