It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for this year’s I’m A Celebrity 2014 campmates, but last night we FINALLY reached the end and crowned Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty as CHAMPION!
CONGRATS MATE! Beating X Factor’s Jake Quickenden, who nabbed the runner-up spot, and presenter Melanie Sykes, who came in third, Foggy got just a little emotional as last year’s winner, Kian Egan, placed the thorny crown on his head.
Has anyone ever wondered whether that crown is actually a bit painful? No? Okay.
Having been in the show from the very beginning, the 49-year-old was feeling pretty emotional, telling Ant and Dec that he couldn’t believe he’d made it to the final.
He said: “It sounds unbelievable. It feels like a dream. Thanks to everyone for voting. This is the best thing of my life, I can’t put into words how happy I am that the public have put me here.
“It’s great to be on the podium one last time.”
The superbike champion broke down when they announced that he’d triumphed over the X Factor finalist to win the hearts of the nation and a big wooden pole as King of the Jungle.
He added: “It’s not real, someone’s playing a joke on me. It’s not sinking in at all. Back on top after 15 years, it feels great.
“This is the best thing that ever happened to me. I didn’t expect this to happen in my age, in my career. The public voting for you is unbelievable.”
You thoroughly deserved it, Foggy.
He also spoke about his campmates, explaining: “Nobody thought they were up themselves and everybody was lovely. Ten really nice people – and I’m not a people person. Everyone was easy-going.”
Except for around dinner time, but let’s not mention that. Awks.
If you were as obsessed with the show as we were, you’ll also remember Foggy striking up a super cute bromance with footballer Jimmy Bullard.
He revealed: “I got very emotional when he left. He was my best mate in there and I was gutted when he left. I thought he was a dead cert to stay in, so I fell apart like a cheap watch with the shock. That was a tough morning.”
Despite coming in second, Jake seemed more than a little chuffed about being on the show in the first place, since even he admits he’s not REALLY, TECHNICALLY a celebrity. Nailed it.
He said: “I can’t get my head around what’s happened. More people have voted for me in this than as a singer!” he joked.
“I couldn’t have lost to a better man. He’s Crocodile Dundee! He deserves it, he’s a legend. It’s been the best time of my life.”
He’s, had, the time of his life etc etc.
Mel also admitted that she was a touch gutted not to make it to the final two, but was just happy to be involved in the whole experience.
She said: “I’ve got to be honest, I’m a bit gutted I’m not in the final. But I’ve had an absolute ball. It was better than I expected – I thought it was going to be more hellish!”
Coh, we’re EXHAUSTED after those three weeks. CONGRATS FOGGY.
