We’re sending all our thoughts to Craig Charles and his family today as the unbearably sad news has broken of the sudden death of the I’m A Celebrity campmate’s brother.
Dean tragically died on Tuesday evening, and it is believed that Craig will be told this morning (australian time).
Obviously, he’ll then be free to leave the show to be with his family if he wishes.
This is such sad news.
Dean, 52, who was a Merseyside police officer, is said to have died of a sudden heart attack on Tuesday evening, but it was decided that I’m A Celeb bosses would not inform Craig, 50, until he’d woken up.
Dean’s ex-wife Karen Shaw spoke of the tragic death, saying: “It’s a shock. He was always fit and Healthy.
“Craig will have to leave the jungle after this.”
Perfectly understandable really.
Craig’s wife Jackie added that it was a “very difficult time for the family.”
We can’t even begin to imagine how they must be feeling right now.
Being that Craig’s having a tough enough time in the jungle, what with being forced to live in the Celebrity Slammer on a diet of porridge, bosses decided not to shock him with the news immediately.
A show source said: “We took the decision not to shock him and wake him in middle of the night and will inform him of the sad news when he wakes up.
“He will be allowed to do exactly what he wishes.”
After already losing Gemma Collins from the jungle, ITV bosses must now be worried about how to keep the jungle at full capacity.
A TV source revealed: “Losing Craig and Gemma in the space of 48 hours would be a nightmare for ITV.”
Well probably, yes.
Viewers of last night’s show would’ve noticed that the Corrie actor was not featured in the live footage, and that he was made exempt from The Terror Tavern (the next Bushtucker Trial).
This was, of course, because of the heart-breaking news.
News of Craig’s potential departure comes just one day after TOWIE‘s Gemma sensationally upped and left the jungle after realising that she just couldn’t cope.
Did we mention that she was there just 72 hours?
Anyway, after panicking that she’d gotten malaria, freaking out about the helicopter ride and generally screaming at all moments, GC decided that she couldn’t be a jungle jane and headed on the next flight back to, erm, a random Australian hotel we assume.
Jungle life will definitely be quieter and probably more boring without her.
And without Craig too!
We’re sending all our love and thoughts to his family at this sad and difficult time and hope they can be left to grieve in peace.
