We were all left pretty shocked when Gemma Collins decided to throw in the towel just three days into her stay in the jungle on I’m A Celebrity.
But despite packing it all in VERY early, it seems that the TOWIE star will still receive her full salary after ITV reportedly imposed a 72 hour clause in their contracts.
Hmm… this is starting to sound a bit suss to us?!
While the channel is yet to confirm the rule, it is thought that this year’s bunch of celebs will only be paid their six figure fee if they stick it out for three days.
Just one big old coincidence, yeah, Gems?
Some angry fan took to Twitter to vent their OUTRAGE, claiming that it was just one big COP OUT, calling for the reality star to forgo the money.
One viewer wrote: “Gemma Collins shouldn’t get paid or be allowed to stay in Australia until the end of the series, stupid cow.”
Another wrote: “Gemma Collins shouldn’t be paid. She’s been watching the show for over 10yrs & knows what it involves. She was my entertainment. #Selfish.”
On Wednesday morning it was revealed that, after three days of porridge and absolutely no bushtucker trials, Gemma has taken the decision to bow out of the camp.
So. Much. Drama.
A spokesperson from ITV confirmed this morning that 33-year-old GC would no longer be fighting off ants and spiders by the campfire.
They said: “We’re sorry to see Gemma go but respect her decision and wish her well.”
Throughout her epic journey of just, erm, three days, we saw GC cry, moan and scream her way through the trials and tribulations of jungle life, from bawling her eyes out when the helicopter lifted two feet off the ground, to fearing malaria because of her fluorescent yellow poo and having delirious dreamings about food.
Oh, and creating that weird porridge omelette that everyone weirdly seemed to enjoy?!
GC already threatened to quit on her dramatic descent into the Celebrity Slammer – the jungle jail that the celebrities were voted into by the public before the show had even begun.
News of Gemma quitting comes just ONE DAY after her TOWIE co-star Ferne McCann told Good Morning Britain: “I can’t believe she’s cracked this soon – but she’s definitely not a quitter.” Oh.
GOD WE LOVE THIS SHOW.
We’ll miss you Gemma and all your crazy, dramatic ways. Plus, it’s a shame we never got to see you reach your Bear Grylls-esque goals. Sadface.
At least she’ll have that *ahem* hefty to fee to cheer her up – silver linings and all that!
