It’s not exactly an all-you-can-eat buffet down in the I’m A Celebrity jungle, so it’s no surprise that Melanie Sykes has revealed HUGE weight loss after her time eating, well, whatever they could find on the jungle floor.
SOMETIMES LITERALLY. However, as much as weight loss goes hand-in-hand with the jungle experience, we’re shocked about just how much Mel shed on the extremely basic diet.
We’re talking AN ENTIRE STONE. IN THREE WEEKS.
44-year-old Mel, who came in third place on the show, has spoken out about her major weight loss after the campmates struggled to eat decent meals every night, all thanks to a lack of stars won in the Bushtucker Trials. And, not surprisingly, she’s not impressed.
Speaking to MailOnline after leaving the australian jungle, she admitted: “I lost a stone in the jungle. I’m not happy about it. I just saw myself in the mirror after I got out of the shower and I don’t look good naked.
“It’s Christmas, so I’m just going to build on the weight again over the festive season. A stone is ridiculous for me.”
You can take our portion of mince pies and pigs in blankets if you like?
Mainly because if you don’t, we’ll end up eating ten times what we intended and feeling guilty about it for the next three months.
Mel also spoke about noticing weight loss in the jungle itself, adding: “I could feel it in my face. And I could see it in my face, but you only have a little mirror in the jungle, so you don’t see your full body at any time.
“I didn’t realise quite how thin I’d got until I saw myself just now – and it is not nice. I’ll build up, though.”
Eat lots of spinach and we’re sure you’ll be just fine. At least you’ve got Gino D’Acampo to cook you lots of Italian stuff if you want it (who wouldn’t?!).
However, despite the drastic weight loss, Mel did admit that she was “feeling great” after having a shower and putting a nice dress on for a change!
She said: “I’ve eaten from the mini bar. I’m about to have a proper meal. I’m going to have a steak in a minute. I can’t wait.”
OOH. We’re actually jealous of something the campmates are eating for once. There’s a first time for everything, right? RIGHT.
Despite managing an impressive third place, Mel told Ant and Dec that she was a touch gutted not to make it to the final two, but was just happy to be involved in the whole experience.
She said: “I’ve got to be honest, I’m a bit gutted I’m not in the final. But I’ve had an absolute ball. It was better than I expected – I thought it was going to be more hellish!”
It will always look hellish to us. Sorry not sorry.
If you need any extra food Mel, you’re always welcome round ours – we’ve got a freezer FULL of ice cream and we think we need help!
