Michael Buerk has opened up to his I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here camp mates about his regret over not killing Jimmy Savile.
The 68-year-old broadcaster admitted that he wished he’d thrown the disgraced paedophile off the QE2 when he had the chance.
The shocking comments were made on Wednesday night’s episode.
Michael said: “[I was] standing at the rail of the QE2 with Jimmy Savile, who I personally disliked intensely before everyone else did, and my regret is not tipping him over the rail while I had the chance.”
The legendary BBC journalist also spoke of another regret – tracking down his bigamist father.
He explained: “It was a complicated situation really, he was a Canadian army officer during the Second world War and he met my mother towards the end of the war… and he married her and I was born but he neglected to point out he was already married and had a wife back in Vancouver.
“He did divorce his first wife and then we lived in Vancouver until I was three (but) this is part of the regret, I don’t know what happened and my first memory is coming back on a ship with my mother in 1949.”
However, Michael eventually tracked down his father after traveling to Vancouver after getting married but realised it to be a mistake, adding: “Bad decision I think. Because I felt nothing. It was all heavy stuff.”
Meanwhile, camp security has been on high alert after two murders took place not far from the camp with those responsible still on the loose.
A spokesperson for the program said: “We have a security team on site. The safety and security of our celebrities and crew is of the utmost importance.”
