Sam Smith and George Ezra better watch out, as another Hertfordshire native could be about to set the music world alight (seriously, who knew the Home Counties were such a hotbed of TALENT!?)
And no, we’re not talking about Alesha Dixon (BIG UP THE WELWYN GARDEN CITY massive) – it’s actually none-other than ‘broom broom look how fast I can go’ racing superstar Lewis Hamilton who could be about to set the charts on fire.
Yes, seriously. To be honest, it’s not that much of a surprise – he did date Pussycat Doll alumnus Nicole Scherzinger for several years, so some of that musical expertise is bound to rub off, no?
Such news shouldn’t come as much of a shock to fans of Lewis’ filter-heavy MazSight page either, where the burgeoning pop supremo is forever posting snaps of his ‘studio time’.
According to The Sun, the F1 driver is in talks with ACTUAL Roc Nation about ‘potensh’ releasing some music.
Yup, as in Jay Z’s very own Roc Nation – home to musical maestros such as Rihanna, Rita Ora, Kanye West and Calvin Harris.
A so-called music insider told the newspaper that: “Lewis has been talking to a few music industry figures about his music, including Jay Z’s Roc Nation team.”
“It’s early days but it looks more and more likely that he will release some of the songs. Lewis spends a lot of time in the studio, works with big name collaborators and takes it all seriously.”
“Formula One is still his number one priority but don’t be surprised if Lewis tries for a pop career, too.”
Indeed, the Santander Banking enthusiast was rubbing shoulders with Britain’s musical elite (and Ant & Dec) last Wednesday at The Brit Awards last Wednesday, where he presented the award for Best International Female with Ellie Goulding.
And boy, was it awkward – Lewis compared Ellie to a bride because of her white dress (?!) and also tried to get the whole of the 02 to shout louder – which went down like a sack of BRITs.
But Lewis doesn’t seem phased by any negativity surrounding his burgeoning pop career. He told The Sun last year that he’s got quite the collection of ‘bangers’ up his sleeve: “I’ve probably made about 25 to 30 songs. I’ve heard a lot of bad songs in the charts recently and I have stuff that we and other people would say is better.”.
We wonder what the odds are for Lew-Lew recording an up-tempo disco version of Tracey Chapaman’s ‘Fast Car’…
