Last night saw the best royal meeting since THAT royal Wedding, as Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, and Prince William met the very best in pop royalty, AKA Beyoncé and Jay-Z, at a Brooklyn basketball game.
The internet self-imploded, we self-imploded, all the parties involved probably self-imploded because it really was EVERYTHING. Duh.
If you looked up ‘power meeting’ in the dictionary, this is probably what you’d find.
AGH JUST LOOK AT IT.
Kate and Wills, both 32, are currently on a trip to the USA and decided to pop into the Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Centre, y’know, just CASUALLY and all.
Wills must’ve been particularly excited about their visit, especially since R. Couri Hay, a New York society publicist, told PEOPLE: “Will has told friends he is excited about going to the game because he and Harry love playing basketball.”
What he REALLY meant was ‘Will has told friends he is excited about going to the game because he is a massive Beyoncé fangirl,’ of course.
As well as drawing attention just for being them (AKA fascinating people. Or something), the two also met up with Bey and Jay in what we’ve decided was the most important, amazing and downright INSANELY GENIUS meeting of all time.
YES ALRIGHT, it was pre-arranged by Kensington Place courtiers, but are we even bothered? No, is the answer.
Bey, Jay, Kay and Way had the game’s crowd looking pretty crazy in love as the Queen of Pop/music in general strutted, swagged and, er, walked across the court to meet up with the British Royals.
According to an eyewitness for E! News: “Bey and Jay got up out of their seats during the break before the fourth quarter and walked across the court to say hi. Everyone was standing up and gawking. It’s a mob scene around them.”
Another eyewitness told PEOPLE: “Jay Z wished Will and Kate ‘Merry Christmas’ when he was talking to them.”
As well as being involved in the most important and life-changing meeting of all entire time, the royal couple (Kate and Wills we mean) also met up with legendary basketball LeBron James, or King James as he’s better known, backstage at the game.
Talking about his basketball experience, William told him: “It was good, really good. Our first time. I went to the White House for the first time [too]. It was quite daunting.”
They also received some personalist basketball jerseys, including a mini version for Prince George which is literally the cutest thing we’ve seen all month. And we’ve seen the McVities Christmas advert.
In conclusion, Kate and William were in the best royal meeting of ALL TIME last night, and we’re probably never going to get over how incredible it was.
Unless Beyoncé and Jay-Z ever decide to grace the stands of our local football derby. Then we’ll talk.
