And now Kesha has spoken out about the eating disorder that drove her to rehab earlier this year…admitting that it was the ‘scariest time of her life.’

The 27-year-old has written an essay for Elle Magazine, describing how she felt pressure to be skinny because of her job as a pop star, leading to downward spiral of bulimia.

She wrote: “I felt like a liar, telling people to love themselves as they are, while I was being hateful to myself and really hurting my body.

“I wanted to control things that weren’t in my power, but I was controlling the wrong things. I convinced myself that being sick, being skinny was part of my job. It felt safer somehow.”

The Tik Tok star went on to admit that it took a lot of courage to admit the problem to herself and actually check into rehab… worried that people would think it was due to drugs or alcohol.

She wrote: “I worried about what people would think. I was here for an eating disorder – but I knew people would assume I was here for other things.

“I knew I was ready to leave when I’d gained enough confidence to get on a plane knowing there would be paparazzi at the airport at the other end.

“I was right – they were there. But this time, when I saw the pictures, I felt OK.”

The glitter-loving star is feeling a lot better now, and although she’s not fully recovered, she’s stronger than before.

She wrote: “I feel stronger now. Strong enough to admit that I need help, and strong enough to have faced it head on.”

Go, Kesha!
