It is the very twisted celebrity legal saga that makes our stomach churn.
Kesha accused US music producer, Dr. Luke, of rape and years of sexual, verbal, and emotional abuse in a harrowing lawsuit that came to light last week.
41-year-old Luke has strongly refuted the claims, and has now produced a legal document signed by the 27-year-old back in 2011, which states that he has never given her drugs nor did the two have any kind of intimate relationship.
The Tik Tok singer filed a lawsuit against the famous producer which included shocking details of verbal and physical abuse over the years, including one occasion where he slipped her GBH so that he “could rape her while she was unconscious”.
Immediately Dr. Luke countersued for defamation, calling the allegations “outrageous and untrue”, but it seems a little bit bizarre that he would have legal disposition signed by the star which conveniently supports his innocence.
It just seems like kind of a weird thing to have lying around, no?
Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, also finds it all a bit fishy and gave E! News his verdict on what Luke is doing, he said: “Luke’s latest legal manoeuvre comes as no surprise; it’s a desperate Hail Mary and a pathetic attempt to once again blame his victim.
“As detailed in our complaint, Luke walked Kesha down the beach and threatened to destroy Kesha’s life and the lives of her family if she didn’t cover up his sexual assaults in a 2011 deposition. He is now following through on his threats and grasping at straws to try and twist Kesha’s equivocal statements.
“Unfortunately protecting abusers out of fear happens all too often with battered women. This case is about Luke’s physical, emotional and psychological abuse of Kesha and her fight to get him out of her life.
“After being driven to the brink of death and into rehab, she’s no longer going to allow herself to wither away at the hands of her abuser as he tries to blame the victim.”
Meanwhile, Luke’s lawyer Christine Lepera has claimed that Kesha’s accusations are “a spectacular and outrageous fiction that will go down in flames.”
We’re not entirely sure who to believe, but it looks like this lawsuit is going to be a pretty messy one.
