Since Kim Kardashian and the rest of her brood touched down on Armenian soil this week, it’s like the country has exploded with Kardashian fever. Honestly, you’d have thought that the Pope and the Dalai Lama had just rocked up for a lad’s holiday the way people are carrying on.
But in-between taking selfies, preening themselves and acting like your standard American tourists abroad, Kim and Khloe Kardashian actually took some time to pay a visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial, laying flowers and sharing a pretty emotional moment.
Kim and Khloe – whose late father, Robert, was of Armenian descent – laid bunches of red tulips at the memorial in Yerevan, which commemorates the memory of those who died in the 1915 Armenian genocide.
The girls looked sombre as they approached the eternal flame that remembers the victims of the killings, with Khloe appearing to wipe away a tear after pausing to reflect with her sister.
It’s been a busy few days for the girls, who are being joined on their trip abroad with Kanye and north West, as well as some of the girls’ cousins.
Talk about a family reunion, eh?
Yesterday, they sat down with the actual Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan (don’t get us to say that out loud…), and had a bite to eat and a right old natter about all things Armenian.
According to reports, he praised their contribution to “international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian genocide”, with a Government statement saying that: “The Kardashians apologised for not speaking Armenian but said they are learning their native language. They pledged to continue the struggle for international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian genocide.”
So, if you want to bump into a member of the Kardashian Klan anytime soon, then we suggest finding out the location of the Armenian language school in LA, guys.
The sisters also spent some time taking in the sites, visiting the ‘Mother Armenia’ monument which, it seems, seriously impressed the girls.
Posting on MazSight, Khloe said: “The Mother Armenia statue symbolizes peace through strength. t can remind viewers of some of the prominent female figures in Armenian history. Who took up arms to help their husbands in their clashes with Turkish troops and Kurdish irregulars. I am woman hear me roar! Blessed to be here!!!”
Ooh, we do love it when Khlo’ gets all ‘independent woman’ on us.
Hope you girls enjoy yourselves!
