Kim Kardashian has been speaking for the first time since Bruce Jenner’s interview aired, and has admitted that despite not knowing exactly what her stepfather is going through, she supports him “100%.”
Speaking to Matt Lauer on The Today Show, Kim revealed that as long as Bruce is happy, she’s happy, adding that he’s found “inner peace” since he revealed all with Diane Sawyer.
The 65-year-old former Olympian admitted in the interview that his 34-year-old stepdaughter had been the most “accepting” of the change, saying Kanye West had helped her to come to terms with it.
In her chat with Matt Lauer, Kim revealed: “I’m really happy for him that he is living his life the way he wants to live it. And that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness. That’s what life is about.
“I don’t know what life would be like if you always felt like you weren’t yourself. I know it’s not something that you or I could really fully understand, but I don’t even think we have to.
“As long as he is happy, and he wants to live his life, however he wants to live it, that just makes me happy. And I support him 100 percent.”
The mum-of-one also revealed that the Kardashian-Jenners are trying to adjust the best they can to be respectful to Bruce, and that he’s helping to make them feel “as comfortable as possible.”
She said: “What do we call him? Do we say him or her? How do we be respectful? There’s so many different things that you just want to be supportive and you just want to be respectful, and I think that everything takes time.
“I mean, Bruce wants us to feel as comfortable as possible and take everything at our own pace, and we love him for that, and we respect him for that.
“Until that transition is done, we’ve learned that you do refer to him as him. He’s been really, really good at explaining everything to us, even though it’s really new. These have been newer feelings – not newer feelings for him, but for us to digest. He’s done a really good job of walking us through it.”
She added that the Kardashian-Jenner Klan have been through “every emotion possible” during their family meetings, explaining: “Say what you want about us, but we work out everything as a family, we have the best communication and we are so in sync with each other.
“I love having so many siblings and such a supportive mom because each family member might be dealing with this in a different way but we have each other to go through this experience with, and I’m really grateful for that.”
A source recently revealed that Bruce has been ‘overwhelmed’ by all the awesome messages of support he’s received after he bravely told Diane Sawyer: “Yes, for all intents and purposes, I’m a woman. I have the soul of a female and my brain is much more female than it is male, as of now I have all the male parts.”
The source told People that he “feels very good” about what he did to “help other people in his shoes.”
They added that “he also seems very happy that he is moving forward with his transition,” and that he “seems more comfortable with his new life,” and has done for the past couple of weeks.
