Kim Kardashian has revealed the reason she decided to pose nude for Paper magazine, and that reason was…art.
The 34-year-old was being interviewed on Australia’s The Project tv show, and when the subject of her champagne-glass-on-the-butt/oiled-up and nude cover shoot came up, she explained that it was all just an “art project”.
We don’t remember any champagne bottles or nude oiled-up reality TV stars in our GCSE art class, but ok…
Speaking to the hosts of the show, Kim explained her decision, saying: “I looked back at a clip of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ last season and I was really heavily pregnant, and I looked at my sisters and said, ‘You guys, when I feel like I have my body back, I’m doing a nude shoot.”
And, on top of that, the dream opportunity for this nude shoot just happened to come around when Jean-Paul Goude and Kim were put together for the Paper shoot.
“When I got the opportunity to work with the photographer Jean-Paul Goude, who photographs everyone nude, that’s his thing, I was so honoured and excited to work with him, because he is a legend. And for me that was something I knew I wanted to do to make myself feel confident,” Kim told her australian hosts and audience.
But if Kim was worried about her near-Internet-breaking photographs polarizing opinion between love and hate she didn’t show it, as she asserted that this was for HER and her alone.
Mrs West explained: “As a role model I’m not saying anyone else should do that, but for me, I did it as an art project that was going to make me feel confident and feel good. And, it taught me to do what you want to do.”
So, there you go. It wasn’t about the publicity at all. OK?
Now, as we all know, last week Kim’s #breaktheinternet shoot basically (kind of) did exactly that, as people couldn’t help talk about it and even copy it.
But, if you thought that it would go away so quickly…then umm…you were wrong!
Talk show host Ellen Degeneres revealed that herself and her partner, Portia de Rossi, have channeled Kim in their Christmas card this year.
The card shows Ellen and Portia’s heads imposed on matching oiled-up Kim bodies, underneath a special festive message, that reads: “Happy Holidays and a Shiny New Year.”
But, if Kim’s seen it, she didn’t mention it in Melbourne when she was papped (shortly after her TV interview) attending the launch of her new perfume, Fleur Fatale.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a launch without a suitable attention-grabbing outfit, so the star slipped into a a fugure hugging latex dress.
