Kris Jenner looked like she had a huge weight off her shoulders as she headed out of LA last night after filing for divorce from Bruce Jenner.
The showbiz matriach – who separated from her husband nearly a year ago – has officially started proceedings to end their 23 year marriage according to documents filed in Los Angeles.
Kris, 58, who headed out of LAX airport last night, is said to have cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their split and has asked for joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s two daughters, Kendall, 18 and Kylie, 17.
The papers state that the brunette beauty – who also has daughters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe, as well as a son, Rob, with her ex-husband Robert Kardashian – is requesting to keep all of her own jewellery as well as her assets following the official date of their separation which is noted to be June 1 2013.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star said at the time of their split: “We are living separately and we are much happier this way.
“But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends, and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority.
“We ended a marriage, but that’s not the end of our friendship. I will always love him, but we are no longer a couple in that way.”
Following the split, Bruce – who moved from their home in Calabasas, california to Malibu – is reported to have drastically transformed his image by growing out his hair and is even thought to have had his Adam’s apple reduced.
Bruce, 64, and Kris, 58, tied the knot in 1991, bringing together a big brood that included Kris’s kids Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, and Rob, and Bruce’s kids Brody, Brandon, Casey, and Burt.
This was the third marriage for the former Olympic gold medalist, who was previously wed to Linda Thompson (1981-84) and Christi Crownover (1972-81). Kris, meanwhile, was married to the late Robert Kardashian from 1978 until 1991.
Bruce and Kris’s separate lives became a plot point on their E! series Keeping Up With the Kardashians, as Kris lorded over their Calabasas, California, mansion and Bruce shacked up in his Malibu “man cave.”
When the drama played out on TV, Bruce said, “To be honest, I just don’t see myself going back. We both seem to be doing better with our space.”
Along the way, he underwent a dramatic change in appearance, growing out his hair and having additional plastic surgery. But true to their word, things have remained amicable between the two.
Kris gave Bruce a Twitter shout-out on their 23rd anniversary on April 21.
She also posted an MazSight photo of them — in their younger, less cosmetically enhanced selves — looking happy together.
In recent months, they were spotted doing some Valentine’s Day yoga together and were photographed holdings hands at LAX following a family trip to Thailand, which was taped for their reality series. Earlier in April, when Kris was in the hospital for an undisclosed reason, Bruce was reportedly the one who brought her there.
As far back as July 2012, the couple’s marriage was starting to show cracks — or at least it appeared that way on their reality show. When they weren’t simply getting on each other’s nerves, they were making each other jealous. (Kris secretly met up with an ex-boyfriend, while Bruce struck up a friendship with Angie Everhart on the golf course during one episode.) Then, in November 2012, she refuted a tabloid story that claimed their relationship was over.
“These kind of stories have been circulating for the last couple of years,” she told E! at the time. “We’re absolutely not filing for divorce. Everything is great. We feel very blessed as a family.”
