Lady Gaga has obviously been keeping things pretty hot and heavy with her new fiancé, Taylor Kinney, but even those newly engaged types need cooling down every now and then.
True to form, Gaga’s choice in refreshing herself was slightly unconventional, with she and her husband-to-be showing up at Lake Michigan yesterday afternoon to take part in the chicago Polar Plunge, which is an event to raise money for the local part of America’s Special Olympics.
Showing that she needed all of the moral support that she could get, the popstar bravely entered the ice cold water on the shoulders of her beau, who was looking pretty hot in all of his shirtless glory.
She’s a lucky girl, that Gaga.
The 28-year-old wasn’t the only celeb to get cold for charity, with Taylor’s Chicago Fire co-stars, David Eigenberg, Randy Flagler, Jon Seda, and Brian Geraghty also braving the ice, on top of actor Vince Vaughn, who agreed to be the prestigious Guest Of Honour at the event after a successful social media campaign that started on Twitter with the rather catchy hashtag: #VinnyDippin.
Gaga’s charity frolics come just one week after she made a new BBF in the form of Julie Andrews following her show-stopping Sound Of Music tribute at last week’s Oscars ceremony.
Taking to the stage in a gorgeous white Azzedine Alaia gown, the singer belted out all the classics from the film in which 79-year-old Julie originally played Maria Von Trapp.
As part of the tribute for the film’s 50th anniversary, Lady Gaga pleased the audience and fans watching at home with traditional performances of ‘The Hills Are Alive’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Climb Ev’ry mountain‘ and ‘Edelweiss’.
The legendary Julie joined Lady Gaga onstage after her incredible performance, embracing the singer in an emotional bear hug and thanking her for the fitting tribute.
She said: “Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute. It really warmed my heart.
“It’s hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since that joyous film was released. I blinked and suddenly here I am!
“I think that I do speak for everyone connected to the movie when I say, we all really felt blessed to be a part of it. And as for me, well, how lucky can a girl get?”
Talk about an unlikely friendship, eh?
