Lord Alan Sugar isn’t exactly known for sugarcoating his opinions, but it looks like his latest comment towards plus-size model Elena Raouna has landed him in a whole world of trouble on Twitter.
Yikes. Not that he was really that bothered, of course, blocking the critics that dared to take on the Apprentice businessman.
It all kicked off after Elena took the opportunity to send a quick tweet to Sir Alan, writing “evening sugar can I call you that? Lol.”
However, the harmless message ended up causing uproar after Lord Sugar sent an unnecessarily cruel reply, writing: “yes no problem as long as I can call you fatty.”
His followers were quick to pounce on the tycoon for his uncalled for reply, with one user questioning: “Was there any need to reply in that manner?”
The 67-year-old took it all in his stride though, obviously, casually replying: “get stuffed and mind your own business tw..”
Elena isn’t letting Lord Sugar get off easy after his comments either, telling The Mirror that she wants an apology from the Apprentice boss, admitting that she’s still “absolutely fuming” about his “cruel comments.”
She explained: “I can see people joking about it online and it’s as if he’s sent out a message to his followers saying it’s ok to call people fat.
“I just sent a quirky tweet to get his attention and stand out amid is three million followers. It was just a friendly tweet to say ‘hi’ but my face froze in shock with his reply and I had to check it was his official Twitter page because I couldn’t believe he would be so abusive.
“To show I could take it on the chin I said about rather be called ‘Chubbs’ but then he blocked me. He was obviously not joking! It’s cyber bullying.
“I’m a size 16, which is the average size for a woman. He is not just putting me down but most of the women in this country!
“I think the least I deserve is an apology. He is a Lord and a role model. He is old enough to be my grandfather and this is really disgraceful. If he was my grandfather I’d have been ashamed.
“I’m a very friendly outgoing bubbly character who tries to be a good role model to other women like me. What sort of role model is he? I’ve had years of people calling me fat at school but recently my confidence had grown. This just put it back again.
“I was genuinely a massive fan until this happened. How dare he say something like that! He’s not just putting me down but a lot of women!”
She also admitted that she actually applied to go on The Apprentice, but had to turn down the audition as she’d got a place on Channel 4′s Coach Trip instead.
She revealed: “Good job I didn’t go because I would probably have been too fat! I probably got thought because I only sent a head shot.”
It’s sad to think that iconic role models like Lord Sugar think it’s okay to send such cruel comments, and we hope Elena gets the apology she deserves.
We think you look beautiful just the way you are, Elena!
