Mariah Carey Slams American Idol As ‘So Boring And Fake’: ‘It Was The Worst Experience Of My Life’

With American Idol set to come to an end after the next series, Mariah Carey has slammed the show as “boring” and “fake,” hinting that judges had to exaggerate feedback to help make the show entertaining.

Don’t hold back, Mariah. Tell us how you REALLY feel.

The 45-year-old singer appeared as a judge on the 12 series of the show (2013), replacing Jennifer Lopez and sitting alongside Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, and Nicki Minaj, who she was reported to have had a whole plate of beef with during their time working together.

Speaking to KIIS FM hosts Kyle and Jackie O, she branded the show: “So boring and so fake.”

Elaborating, she continued: “I’m sorry I just think it’s – when I say it’s fake, I mean like you have to make up things to say about people.

“Half the time the performances are good and you’d just be like ‘it was good’ and you feel like ending it there. ‘You were really good’,” she said before trailing off.

Asked if she would consider returning for some sort of reunion finale show (who doesn’t love those, eh?), she admitted: “Hell, no! Absolutely not, that was the worst experience of my life.

“I’m not going to get into what it was. Let’s just say, I don’t think they had any intentions of us having a good experience through that show.”

She also commented on the ‘feud’ she was supposedly having with Nicki throughout the series, adding: “Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool.

“It should have been about the contestants instead of about some non-existent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness and I would never want to be involved in it again, but everyone else can like it.”

So there you go.

This isn’t the first time Mariah’s taken a stab at her time on the show, previously telling Hot 97: “Honestly, I hated it. It was like going to work everyday in hell with Satan – no, I’m just playing.

“It didn’t affect me that much, I was just disappointed. I loved the contestants.”

Eek.
