Martine McCutcheon has revealed that she is three and a half month’s pregnant with her first child.
The 38-year-old is thrilled to be expecting a bouncing baby boy with her husband of almost two years, Jack McManus (no relation to Michelle McManus of X Factor fame).
Showing off her bump as she spoke exclusively to Hello! magazine Martine revealed that the happy news comes following a secret seven-year fight with depression as a result of chronic fatigue syndrome ME, she reveals:
“This baby has brought us a joy we never knew existed.
“We’d always said that if we were fortunate enough to be blessed with a child, that would be wonderful, but we were very aware that it’s not a given.
“As a woman in her late 30s who has experienced health problems, I thought I might have to accept that it wasn’t a path my life was going to take, but it would have been a great sadness in our lives if that had been the case.”
Aww, we are so happy for you, Martine!
Her son is due on Valentines Day next year and will hopefully mark the end of what has been quite a challenging period of Martine’s life, which saw the star declare herself bankrupt last year before making a bid to return to singing…
Which, erm, we haven’t really heard anything more about.
Martine has admitted that now it feels as though things are looking up, saying: “It was a terrible time in our lives. It’s like the tides have finally turned.
“Great things are starting to happen on the work front, but more than anything, expecting our baby boy has given us clarity on what matters.”
The actress and singer found fame in the 90s as everybody’s favourie EastEnder, Tiffany Mitchell, in the BBC One soap opera.
Playing the better half of Ross Kemp’s Grant Mitchell, Tiffany faced more than her fair share of drama before she was killed in a car accident at the hands of none other than Frank Butcher.
Following that Martine dabbled in a bit of singing and is responsible for the ultimate smoochfest of 1999, ‘Perfect Moment’.
Martine has previously claimed that she knows “a lot of babies were made” to her song, but it is yet to be confirmed whether or not that was the case for her bundle of joy.
Actually, come to think of it, we don’t think that we want to know.
However, we would love to know the odds on Martine and Jack naming their son ‘Grant’!
