After giving birth last month, Martine McCutcheon has officially introduced her new baby son Rafferty to the world in a gorgeous magazine shoot.
And it’s safe to say that he’s going to be a real heartbreaker!
The actress revealed that she’s “never felt happier” after welcoming her adorable little son into the world, especially since she struggled to conceive after fighting a secret battle chronic fatigue syndrome ME.
Congratulations, Martine and Jack McManus! Rafferty is too ruddy cute for words.
Posing for the beautiful Hello! Magazine shoot, the 38-year-old revealed: “I used to think, when I heard people say having a child was their most life-changing moment, that they were just saying that because it was the expected thing to say.
“Now I so get it. I have never been so in love, so content and so full of happiness in my life.
“My mum always said to me that it is a love like no other, and it’s absolutely true.
“This baby boy is the love of our lives and I think the fact this didn’t happen easily for us and faced challenges along the way, has made him even more precious.”
However, the actress also admitted that Rafferty’s arrival wasn’t all smooth sailing, as he ended up spending two nights in a special unit because he had fluid in his lungs.
She explained: “Basically, his lungs were filled with fluid, but we were told that it wasn’t anything to panic about and that he was being taken to the special care baby unit to be monitored.
“I was aching for that skin-on-skin contact and to hold my baby and bond with him.
“(But) when we went to see Rafferty in the incubator, he was already trying to lift his head and I thought, ‘you’re going to be just fine, little man’.”
We’re glad to hear Rafferty seems to have made a full recovery now.
She revealed her exciting pregnancy news to Hello! last summer, admitting that it was particularly special because she’d previously struggled to conceive.
Martine explained: “This pregnancy has brought us a joy we never knew existed.
“We’d always said that if we were fortunate to be blessed with a child, that would be wonderful, but we were very aware that it’s not a given,” she said.
“As a woman in her late 30s who’s experienced health problems, I thought I might have to accept that it wasn’t a path my life was going to take, but it would have been a great sadness in our lives if that had been the case.”
Congratulations again, guys, and here’s to a fantastic 2015!
