Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have made their first appearance on Vine and it’s possibly one of the most awkward six seconds we’ve ever bore witness to.
The 28-year-old twins were videoed on the popular app while standing backstage at New York fashion week by New York Times fashion director Vanessa Friedman.
Friedman captioned the video: “Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row looking very zen pre-show. #nyfw”
Well if Zen translates as ‘so freaking awkward it hurts’ then she’s bang on with her description.
Kudos though for packing in so much uneasiness into such a short amount of time, ladies.
Awkward point number one: They aren’t saying anything. ANYTHING AT ALL.
Awkward point number two: Their painfully flat smiles.
Awkward point number three: The tumbleweed silence that surrounds them.
Awkward point number four: Ashley’s discomfort over the whole situation leading to her eyes erratically darting toward her sister and then back to the camera.
Awkward point number five: Mary-Kate’s mesmerising unbroken stare into the camera’s lens, taking hold of your gaze like the Demon Headmaster.
Awkward point number six: This poor guy in the background who notices the the awkward atmosphere a little too late.
Awkward point number seven: Friedman slowly tailing off with the camera as she realises she probably should have explained that a Vine isn’t a photo but in fact a short video.
This all being said, we can’t wait for the next Olsen twins’ Vine.
