“Thursday Night Football” has featured some of the least competitive games of the 2014 NFL season, and that trend is expected to continue in Week 7. The New England Patriots and New York Jets will start the week with the biggest point spread on the schedule.
Following their fifth straight loss, the Jets are getting 9.5 points in New England. The Patriots have won two games in a row by a combined 41 points. Last season, New York visited New England on Thursday night, and covered the spread in a 13-10 loss.
No betting line begins Week 7 in double-digits, but there also isn’t a point spread that is less than a field goal. Coming off the first tie of the year, the Cincinnati Bengals are tied for being the smallest underdogs, getting three points at Indianapolis. The New Orleans Saints are also three-point underdogs in Detroit.
The Washington Redskins are the only team with a losing record that is favored in Week 7. They are giving the Tennessee Titans 4.5 points in a battle of one-loss teams.
The contest between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers is expected to be the highest-scoring game of Week 7 with an over/under of 51.5 points on Sunday night. The 49ers have not played a game this year in which the total has exceeded 50 points. San Francisco is the only team with at least four wins that isn’t favored.
The Houston Texans will play in primetime for a second straight week when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Monday Night Football.” The Steelers are favored by 3.5 points after losing to the Cleveland Browns by three touchdowns.
