If we’re totally honest, we can still vividly remember exactly where we were when we found out Oasis had split up (Reading Festival, 2009), so when we heard a mini-reunion *COULD* be happening on tomorrow night’s one-off TFI Friday, we quite literally leapt off our seats.
However, while it’s just been revealed that Oasis’ founding guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs is joining Liam Gallagher‘s supergroup on Friday, it’s looking pretty unlikely that Noel will get in on the act.
BOO, HISS, etc etc.
It was originally announced that Liam, 42, had put together a supergroup consisting of The Who’s Roger Daltrey, The Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie, and former Oasis drummer Zak Starkey.
The Sun reported that they’d be making their first appearance on TFI’s 20th anniversary special this Friday, performing a cover of The Who’s My Generation, making us more excited than when we get post that DOESN’T include some form of bill.
The Mirror then revealed that Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs would also be joining the group, but as of yet, there’s no word on whether Noel will make an appearance with them.
Errrr, apart from his comments earlier this week, hinting that he’s really not up for it, actually.
He admitted that he found reunion rumours “annoying,” adding: “There are only so many times that you can say it’s not going to happen.”
There’s also the small matter of the feud he (reportedly) has with the show’s host Chris Evans.
The two fell out when the 49-year-old Radio 2 presenter mocked Oasis’ 1997 album ‘Be Here Now’, and pretended to revive it on the Channel 4 show.
Noel’s reaction? Err, he didn’t find the funny side.
In 2011, Chris explained: “When Be Here Now came out, we were all so disappointed with the album we opened up a TFI Friday with a defibrillator trying to resuscitate it and give the album some life. He saw the joke and has never spoken to me since.”
Elsewhere on the show, Blur, Kenneth Branagh, Nick Grimshaw, Tom Daley, Amanda Seyfried, Rudimental, Stone Roses, Years & Years and LOADS more are set to make an appearance.
We cannot WAIT to see this!
