One Direction Send Alton Towers’ Crash Victim Video Message And Offer To Meet Her

We are always bleating on about what good eggs One Direction are, and they have proven us right once again by responding to an Internet campaign for them to visit Alton Towers’ crash victim, and 1D superfan, Leah Washington, in hospital.

We knew that we could depend on them for a response.

Leah’s pal, Sara Stuart, launched the campaign after visiting seventeen-year-old Leah following the amputation of her left leg, revealing that Leah was even more disappointed that her hospitalisation following the crash had left her unable to see her favourite band live at Capital’s Summertime Ball.

It didn’t take long for #Get1DToLeah trend to pick up momentum on Twitter, and before the day was out Louis Tomlinson had tweeted Leah personally, writing: “Thinking about you Leah & hoping you are home in South Yorkshire soon Xx”

It was then confirmed by a spokesperson that all four of the boys had taken the time out of their hectic schedule to send the injured teen a video message, revealing: “Unfortunately because of their schedule they can’t visit her in hospital, but they have offered Leah tickets to a forthcoming concert of her choice when she has recovered, and will be delighted to meet her backstage then.”

Which, understandably, Leah is thrilled with, her pal shared: “It’s really given Leah something to aim for and really look forward to once she’s recovered.”

Leah was left with critical injuries after being on the Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers when it crashed last Tuesday.

She was on her first date with Joe Pugh, who is reported to have broken both of his kneecaps on the ride, and fourteen other thrillseekers who were left with severe injuries.

Alton Towers have already stated that they are “determined” to do everything that they can to support the victims at this traumatic time, accepting full responsibility for the crash and promising that all compensation will be dealt with “swiftly”.

We are just super glad to hear that something has managed to put a smile back on Leah’s face after what was probably the worst week of her life.
