Oh, what a mad few weeks it’s been for those One Direction boys. Not only have they had to deal with the fact that Zayn Malik decided to stage his very own version of ‘Runaway Bride’ the other week, NOW the group is being besieged by rumours that they’re about to split up.
Well, thank every deity and god on the face of the earth – as the boys have just given their first interview as a four-piece and have categorically DENIED the claims that Zayn’s departure was beginning of the end of One Direction.
Speaking to the boys ‘n’ gals at The Sun, the band explained how bleedin’ upset they were that Zayn said ‘Au Revoir’ to them, but vowed that they’d continue ‘stronger than ever’.
Of course,it fell to ‘Dad’ figure Liam to bring up the proverbial elephant in the room – admitting that the boys have had some of the toughest weeks of their lives this week:
“It’s been a tough few weeks, probably the toughest since the band was formed five years ago. We’re gutted that Zayn chose to leave, but now after a few performances as a four piece, we’re feeling confident and are determined to carry on stronger than ever.”
Resident Naughty Boy super-fan Louis Tomlinson backed up what Liam said, vowing that, “All four of us are 100 per cent committed to staying in One Direction. We want to thank the fans for being so incredible during this time.”
“We have so much more we still want to achieve. Our gigs in South Africa were some of the biggest the country has ever seen, so it’s exciting for us to keep breaking records for British music worldwide.”
Aww, that’s nice, isn’t it? STAYING POSITIVE, EH LADS?
Speaking of positive news, hairy love-god Harry Styles also confirmed that they boys were working on a FIFTH album together – which may have got us a teeny-bit too excited and made us spill our tea down ourselves.
“It’s very exciting to be working on our fifth album, it shows how incredible the fans have been. A huge thank you to them for everything they’ve done for us. All the love to them.”
Fresh from performing to a combined total of 185,000 (!!!) fans in South Africa this week, the boys definitely seem more upbeat than ever, with Niall admitting that all they really want to do is make the fans proud:
“The fans are amazing. They are so loyal. All we want to do is make them proud and return their faith in us with a brilliant tour and an amazing new album.”
Now if all of that wasn’t an Easter treat, then we don’t know what is.
We knew it’d all be fine in the end!
