Directioners unite, Liam Payne’s cousin is auditioning for The Voice UK and if he wants to win the blimmin’ thing he is going to need YOUR help.
Yes, you have read that correctly, Liam’s rather hunky cousin, Ross Harries, will be seen giving it his all at his blind audition on Saturday, as he sings and drums along to a rendition of Usher’s ‘Good Kisser’.
Although, we’ll have to wait and see if any of the judges turn around – after all, Kym Marsh’s daughter proved that having a famous relative doesn’t mean anything when you’re serenading the back of four chairs.
Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that all of this goes better for Ross than it did for Harry Styles’ cousin, Ben Selley, when his band auditioned for The X Factor last series, eh?
…Come to think of it, why don’t Ross and Ben rally up the rest of the lads’ cousins and form their very own One Direction?
We mean, they are clearly the owners of some very musical genes.
In case you’re wondering, Liam has already helped his cous out in the ‘boosting his musical profile’ department, with Ross actually playing drums for One Direction before Josh Devine came along, and the hopeful has also played for the likes of The Saturdays, Ella Henderson, and Union J.
Totes casual, yeah?
Despite Liam’s inevitable support for his cousin, we reckon bandmate Louis Tomlinson is going to be less than pleased by Ross’ decision to go for the BBC One show over 1D’s beloved X Factor, especially as Lou is positively unable to hide his hatred for the rival talent show.
Before The Voice came back for its 2015 series, the 23-year-old leapt to the defence of the show that catapulted his career, unleashing his inner sass on the BBC judges who’d been spending their interview time slagging it off.
Louis jibed to his 18.3million Twitter followers: “Is bad mouthing The X Factor the only way The Voice knows how to promo their show ? #everyyear”
Before adding: “It’s like Accrington Stanley trying to compete with Real Madrid ….”
Now, we may not know much about football, but we know that’s a SLAY.
Even though we are very clearly not inside Louis’ sassy little brain, after doing a bit of digging it seemed to be the comments from new Voice judge, Rita Ora, who got the 23-year-old so riled up.
Speaking to The Sun, the singer claimed that she had turned down a judging role on the hit ITV show because she preferred how much more “respected” The Voice is, claiming: “The respect levels for this show are really high.
“It is well received and respected by other artists. That is why I joined, because I really respected the format and how it musically connected to the contestants.”
Hmm, respected by some other artists maybe, but this member of the biggest band on the planet is #TeamXFactor all the way, thanks.
Erm, unless Ross gets through to the finals that is…
